1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef, chicken, or turkey
1 cup red wine, optional
Black Pepper (Grinder), to taste
1 can (14 oz/ 398 ml) crushed tomatoes
1 can (14 oz/ 398 ml) diced tomatoes
3 tbsp Marinara Sauce Mix, or Arrabbiata Sauce Mix
Sea Salt (Grinder), to taste
Preparation
- In a frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Crumble in meat, then grind Salt and Pepper overtop.
- Use a Ground Meat Separator to break up meat. Stir often until cooked through, 5 – 8 minutes.
- Pour in wine. Bring to a boil and stir often until most of the liquid is absorbed, 1 – 2 minutes.
- Stir in tomatoes and add Sauce Mix. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Partially cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 – 15 minutes to allow flavour to blend. Serve sauce over chunky noodles.
Pasta pick: Pappardelle. Its large, flat shape is perfect for thick, meaty sauces.
Time Saving Tip – double or triple the sauce and freeze it into individual or family size portions for an even quicker weeknight supper. Cook once, and eat two to three times. Saves on time as well as you can maximize the sales when ground meat goes on sale.
